5 Months Old!

It's so hard to believe how quickly time is passing and how big our little guy has grown. It seems like everyday he is doing something new....and overall, just seems to love life and open to trying anything we introduce to him. His personality is really starting to show through. Such a fun, loving and sweet boy! He can be serious at times when he's trying to focus on something, but mostly, his "wild" and playful side seems to shine through!

Overall, January has been a tough month with being sick so much. Our family has been hibernating at nights and on the weekends to keep G out of public places to avoid picking anything else up on top of what he's already dealing with! It just amazes me how much he has already been through at such a young age and has done it all with a big smile on his face!

Stats-

18 pounds, 13 ounces at his 4 month well check.... he has gained another pound in January and is now 19 pounds, 3 ounces. The boy loves to eat!

26.5 inches long

90% percentile across all categories!

Play-

Loves "Scout" the Dog, Dancestar Mickey, "Big Red" his little stuffed Hilltopper, anything that involves jumping. He would stay in his new Jumperoo all day long if he could. Peek a Boo always gets him to laugh!

Eat-

Obviously Grant is a great eater, given the way he is packing on the pounds. He takes 4 bottles a day and nurses in the morning, and occasionally in the early evening. He seems to love the new solid food that we introduce to him every week. So far, he has had sweet potatoes, pears, green peas, squash, bananas, and prunes (for obvious reasons!). We have learned the hard way, that prunes are NOT to be messed with and should come with a hazard warning for parents!! He will eat rice cereal for breakfast, along with fruit or vegatable for dinner. Sweet potatoes definitely seem to be his top menu choice so far. Once he turns 6 months, he will start eating solids for all meals of the day.

Sleep

excited to FINALLY say that G is sleeping through the night! Occasionally he will wake up and cry, although he just needs his pacifier and will fall back asleep. Now that he is rolling over, it's hard to say how we will find him in the crib... he normally sleeps on his side, but often rolls to the bottom corner of his bed. He wakes up in the morning anywhere between 5:30 and 7:00 a.m...no more sleeping in...ever!

His bedtime routine starts around 7:30 every night with his Daddy and consists of getting in his PJ's, reading Brown Bear Brown Bear book, saying his prayers and 5 things he's thankful for, getting another 4oz bottle, and rocking to sleep. This seems to do the trick, so we are too scared to ever change anything!

School -

G enjoys his daycare, especially Becky who watches after him. He is the youngest of 5 children who go to her house and loves to be around the other kids. He is starting to become more vocal and cheers and giggles (or high pitch shrills) as the big kids play. They most recently celebrated Valentine's day and Grant made us a sweet picture frame with his handprint on it! Becky has also started a blog that captures what the children have been up to. I will be sure to share that once she completes it!

"What's New" -

Rolls in all directions, he always wants to explore what is NOT on his playmat! Some major childproofing is not too far away in our house!

G can sit up all by himself although we try not to get too far because he still topples over quite often.

He is officially outgrown his "baby" clothes and is now moving onto "toddler" clothes, size 12 months....(tears!).

He is also well on his way to outgrowing his tub!

Giggles on his own when he thinks something is funny and no longer needs to be tickled to get him to laugh.

We love every minute we can spend with our little man. He is so cuddly now... and full of slobber kisses and big hugs! There is truly something new everyday and it will only get more exciting with 6 months!!
